Hello and welcome to Year 3
We are really looking forward to our final term with this year's Year 3 children - where has that year gone? We have lots of exciting learning ahead for our growing Year 3 Community and we will be going on our residential trip to Malt Kiln, Bardsea - how exciting!
Mrs Stanway and Mrs Stevens are very proud and fortunate to have many specialist teaching assistants working along side them and with your child;
Visits and Visitors
This term we have begun our 'Be the Best at M & S Challenge'. Year 3 have been for a visit to look at all the different job roles at Marks and Spencers. Now they are back in school, the children are working in teams to prepare a presentation to make to Simon Craig - the store manager - on Friday 26th May. The two winning teams will get a day's work experience after the half term break - see dates below. Good Luck Year 3!
We will keep you posted as the challenge progresses and more pictures will be available on our twitter feed @Victoria_Acad
Homework is given out on Thursday and collected in on Wednesday. We sometimes like to write comments in the Homework Book about your child such as how well they are doing or more specific things about their work and we encourage parents to write comments back to us. The children also have a Home Reading Book with a Reading Record so that they can enjoy reading together with family members at home. We try to encourage them to read little and often to improve their confidence. Mrs Stevens' Literacy Group have been trialling learning spellings with flashcards over a few weeks and the children seem to be really enjoying it. It has made a real difference to their spelling scores. Well done children and parents!
PE is every Thursday and Friday so children should always have their PE Kit in school on those days as this is an important part of the National Curriculum.
Children can to buy healthy snacks from our tuck shop during morning break with snacks costing between 10p and 20p. Alternatively you can provide them with a healthy snack from home.
We are really looking forward to further helping your children progress in their learning and enjoyment of the world. If you have any queries during this year please come and see us. Our door is always open.
Further to our Parent session with Barrow Police on e-safety and how to keep your child safe online, we have added helpful links to each year group page to help you. If you have any questions or you just want to come in to school to chat about e-safety, please feel free to call in.
